{"id":2082,"date":"2012-08-29T22:29:18","date_gmt":"2012-08-29T13:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2012-08-29\/2082"},"modified":"2012-08-29T22:29:18","modified_gmt":"2012-08-29T13:29:18","slug":"tooting-my-own-horn-ebook-version-of-mastering-regular-expressions-half-off-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2012-08-29\/2082","title":{"rendered":"Tooting My Own Horn: eBook Version of &#8220;Mastering Regular Expressions&#8221; Half Off This Week"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<div class='resize_warning' id='arw2082'>\n<b>NOTE<\/b>: Images with an <img class='raw' width='19' height='18' src='\/i\/s\/red_zoomup.gif'\/> icon next to them have been artificially shrunk to better fit your screen; click the icon to restore them, in place, to their regular size.\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In the thousands of posts and many years I've had this blog, I've only\never mentioned <a\nhref='http:\/\/shop.oreilly.com\/product\/9780596528126.do'>my <i>Mastering\nRegular Expressions<\/i> book<\/a> <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span> times, most recently perhaps six\nyears ago when <a href='\/blog\/2006-07-21\/218'><span class='nobr'>I\nannounced<\/span><\/a> that the third edition was complete and available.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"ic tight\"><a href=\"\/blog\/2006-07-21\/218\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/mre3cover.jpg\" width=\"381\" height=\"500\"\nborder=\"0\"\nid=\"imre3cover\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n\n<p>\u50d5\u304c\u66f8\u3044\u305f\u672c\u300c<a href='http:\/\/www.amazon.co.jp\/%E6%AD%A3%E8%A6%8F%E8%A1%A8%E7%8F%BE-%E7%AC%AC2%E7%89%88-Jeffrey-E-F-Friedl\/dp\/4873111307'><span class='nobr'>\u6b63\u898f\u8868\u73fe<\/span><\/a>\u300d\u306f<span class='nobr'>\u4eca\u9031\u3001<\/span><a href='http:\/\/oreil.ly\/PfwCyB'><span class='nobr'>\u82f1\u8a9e\u7248<\/span>\u306ee-book\u306f<span class='nobr'>\u534a\u984d<\/span>\u30bb\u30fc\u30eb<\/a>\u3067\u3059\u3002<\/p>\n\n<p>For those not steeped in computer science, despite the linguistic feel\nto the name, it's <span class='nobr'>a computer<\/span> book about <span class='nobr'>a very<\/span> thin slice of\ntext-processing technology of interest to <span class='nobr'>a certain<\/span> kind of programmer.<\/p>\n\n<p>I don't generally mention it here because this blog is about me, and not\nabout artificially fanning sales for something <span class='nobr'>I did<\/span>; <span class='nobr'>I want<\/span> the book to do\nwell because folks that might find it useful actually find it useful. <span class='nobr'>I guess<\/span> <span class='nobr'>I want<\/span> it to do however well it does <i>organically<\/i>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The book has been well received these last 14 years, through three\neditions, and currently enjoys an <a\nhref='http:\/\/xkcd.com\/1098\/'>excellent<\/a> 4.5-star rating <a\nhref='http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Mastering-Regular-Expressions-Jeffrey-Friedl\/dp\/0596528124\/'>at\nAmazon.com<\/a>, and 5-star ratings everywhere else <span class='nobr'>I can<\/span> find <span class='nobr'>a rating<\/span>\nonline, such as in <a\nhref='http:\/\/www.amazon.de\/Regul%C3%A4re-Ausdr%C3%BCcke-Jeffrey-E-Friedl\/dp\/3897217201\/'>Germany<\/a>,\n<a\nhref='http:\/\/www.amazon.co.jp\/%E6%AD%A3%E8%A6%8F%E8%A1%A8%E7%8F%BE-%E7%AC%AC2%E7%89%88-Jeffrey-E-F-Friedl\/dp\/4873111307'>Japan<\/a>,\n<a\nhref='http:\/\/www.hanb.co.kr\/book\/look.html?isbn=89-7914-226-9'>Korea<\/a>,\nand <a\nhref='http:\/\/helion.pl\/ksiazki\/wyrazenia-regularne-jeffrey-e-f-friedl,wyrare.htm'>Poland<\/a>\n(though that last one seems to be out of <span class='nobr'>a possible<\/span> six).
