Geez, where has the time gone!? Time seems to evaporate when researching\nstuff, and for the last several days I've had my head buried in setting up a\nbig<\/span> data-backup system at home and in the cloud (something I'm sure I'll\npost about soon).<\/p>\n\n

Anyway, it's been a week since I posted<\/span> the Bendy-Line “What\nam I?” Quiz<\/a> where many people answered\n “paper”, and yes, it's paper, but there's a more<\/span> expressive (dare I say<\/span>\n“richer”?) answer....<\/p>\n\n

The stack has 700 ten-thousand-yen (~$130) banknotes, each which of\nwhich carries the portrait of Yukichi Fukuzawa<\/a>\n\n(\u798f\u6fa4 \u8aed\u5409),<\/span>\n\nwho played an important role both in the founding of modern Japan, and\nin forging early US-Japan relations, among very much else. A fitting<\/span> selection for\nthe honor of gracing the highest-denomination Japanese banknote.<\/p>\n\n
