My last two days have been an almost scene-for-scene repeat of the\natrial fibrillation episode I had<\/span> a year<\/span> ago, written about in “A Good<\/span> Day,\nCourtesy of Suntory and a Cute<\/span> Cardiologist<\/a>”, except that this time was\nmuch worse in the sense that the cardiologist was not cute.<\/p>\n\n

It started yesterday morning, so last night I went<\/span> to the hospital to\npre-check the procedures, and this morning was there when they opened at\n8:00, and by 11:30 I had<\/span> had my electrocardiogram and by noon they were pumping\nPropofol<\/a> into me:<\/p>\n\n\n

This time felt much different than last time... it came on much more\nslowly, and merely as a feeling<\/span> of being tired and slightly drunk. I remember<\/span> some conversation, and that I took<\/span> a photo<\/span> of the docs with my\niPhone. And then I<\/span> remember talking to a doc<\/span> about whether I'm still\nfeeling groggy. No memory<\/span> at all of the 20 minutes in between.<\/p>\n\n

I do have a vague feeling that the main doc preferred to have his face\nblocked out if I put<\/span> the picture up on my blog, but it's so tentative a\nfeeling<\/span> that it might have just been a dream,<\/span> but best not to take\nchances with other people's trust...<\/p>\n\n

Rest assured that he's a fine looking man, but the cute female cardiologist last year left a strong<\/span> impression that's hard to beat. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

To celebrate the lack of death, Fumie and I went<\/span> to Togiya<\/a>\n (\u3068\u304e\u3084 or \u5341\u7947\u5bb6)<\/span>\nfor dinner and plum wine. I'm partial<\/span> to the Prucia mentioned at the top of their\nplum-wine list<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

(Update: I was partial enough to eventually bring home a bottle,<\/span> which besides being tasty is gorgeous<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n

Our favorite food is the tako karaage<\/i> (basically, the octopus\nversion of chicken nuggets), but everything there is tasty. The chef\/owner\nhas experience with Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and French cooking, so\ncombines them all in odd but tasty ways.<\/p>\n\n

It's hard enough to take good photos of food with pro equipment in a studio<\/span> setting, so please excuse this\nafterthought iPhone shot. The salad<\/span> was interesting because it mixed semi-frozen fruit bits like mango and orange,\nalong with avocado and lettuce.<\/p>\n\n

I took other photos, but they're just not worth sharing. I'll have to go back with better equipment some day.\nI'll need better excuses for why they didn't come out well, but they'll be better at least than this. And it'll be a good<\/span>\nexcuse for another glass of Prucia<\/a> plum wine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
