One of the verandas consisted of a single<\/span> plank of pine more than a yard<\/span>\nwide (94cm by my foot-measuring estimation). I'd never<\/span> seen anything like\nit; I assume<\/span> that all the trees big enough to allow this big a plank<\/span> were\nharvested long ago.<\/p>\n\n

I talked to a lady that I took to be the owner of the place, who said\nthat the temple building itself was not all that old... within the last\ncouple of hundred years, so it's likely that the wide plank was repurposed\nfrom an older building. She didn't know, nor really seem to\ncare.<\/p>\n\n\n

I lead the previous post<\/a> with a similar<\/span> shot, but of a different<\/span> door in a different<\/span> room, looking\nout at the same garden from a different<\/span> angle.<\/p>\n\n

The entrance to the place included a painted<\/span> cement floor that included leaf patterns seemingly-etched into the surface...<\/p>\n\n

They were so detailed and lifelike that I have<\/span> to think they were made by leaves being pressed into the cement before it dried, but that really doesn't seem\nplausible for something as delicate as a leaf.<\/span> Maybe someone carefully crafted a bunch<\/span> of stamps? <\/p>\n\n
