{"id":2007,"date":"2012-06-01T23:15:15","date_gmt":"2012-06-01T14:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2012-06-01\/2007"},"modified":"2012-06-01T23:15:28","modified_gmt":"2012-06-01T14:15:28","slug":"giving-up-sadly-on-adding-a-cpu-chip-to-my-voigtlander-125mm-f2-5-lens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2012-06-01\/2007","title":{"rendered":"Giving Up, Sadly, on Adding A CPU Chip To My Voigtl\u00e4nder 125mm f\/2.5 Lens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<div class='resize_warning' id='arw2007'>\n<b>NOTE<\/b>: Images with an <img class='raw' width='19' height='18' src='\/i\/s\/red_zoomup.gif'\/> icon next to them have been artificially shrunk to better fit your screen; click the icon to restore them, in place, to their regular size.\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Two months I posted the report &#8220;<a class='pt'\nhref='\/blog\/2012-03-30\/1967'>Adding <span class='nobr'>a CPU<\/span> Chip to <span class='nobr'>a\nNikon<\/span>-Mount Voigtl\u00e4nder 125mm f\/2.5 Lens<\/a>&#8221;, using a &#8220;Dandelion&#8221; CPU.<\/p>\n\n<p>After posting the report, <span class='nobr'>I spent<\/span> some time actually using the lens, and\ncould not get <span class='nobr'>a consistent<\/span> exposure. <span class='nobr'>I thought<\/span> that perhaps the aperture\nwas not linear (that is, when the camera moved the aperture arm half way,\nthe aperture closed something other than half way), so <span class='nobr'>I re<\/span>-programmed the\nchip so that it told the camera about the focal length and maximum\naperture, leaving the actual control of the aperture back on the lens, as\nit was originally. <span class='nobr'>I update<\/span> the post, and the next day gave it <span class='nobr'>a try.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>It still didn't work, and I got wildly wrong exposures. This baffled me\nbecause the CPU wasn't playing any part in the per-image exposure... it just\ntold the camera the maximum aperture, which never wavered.<\/p>\n\n<p>So, <span class='nobr'>I have no<\/span> idea why it doesn't work, but <span class='nobr'>I know<\/span> it doesn't work, so\nfeel obligated to report it.
