I had an amazing outing yesterday with Paul Barr and Nicolas Joannin, to\na far<\/span>-off temple in the mountains of north-west Kyoto. On the way<\/span> home, we\nstopped in the “Mountain House” restaurant Yama no Ie\nHasegawa<\/a>\n\n (\u5c71\u306e\u5bb6\u306f\u305b\u304c\u308f<\/a>)<\/span>\n\nthat I wrote<\/span> about a couple<\/span> of years ago (here<\/a> and here<\/a>). Upon pulling in,\nwe were immediately drawn to a row<\/span> of blossoming trees that had quite a\ndifferent<\/span> vibe from cherry or plum. It turns<\/span> out that they were peach.<\/p>\n\n

They were on an embankment, so we could view them from above, below, and\non the side... it was a target<\/span>-rich environment made to order for the creamy-smooth shallow\ndepth of field<\/a> of my favorite lens, the Voigtl\u00e4nder 125mm\nf\/2.5<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

I'm not all too sure about that last one above... it might not be\nvisually apparent enough to not annoy at first glance. At my first<\/span> glance I\nreally<\/span> liked it, but when I came<\/span> back to it later didn't like it at all.\nThey say that you should trust your first instinct, so I'm at least giving\nit a shot.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

Back outside after I enjoyed my coffee (and Nicolas and Paul enjoyed\nwhat had been coffee), we couldn't help but give another go at the blossoms\nin the fading light.<\/p>\n\n
