Taking pictures of growing flowers is about as challenging as I imagine<\/span> it would be to photograph animals caged in a zoo.<\/span>.. the only thing easier\nwould be pictures of non-growing flowers, e.g. cut and arranged flowers, as I've done many times\n(including\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>,\nhere<\/a>, and\nhere<\/a>, among others),\nwhich is perhaps comparable to photographing animals after the taxidermist has finished.<\/p>\n\n

Still, pretty is pretty, so here we are.<\/p>\n\n

I discovered this particular flower along a path<\/span> while I was<\/span> out in\nKyoto with Paul Barr today. My discovery<\/span> came right after he pointed at it\nand said “wow, check out this flower”. It and its<\/span> friends obligingly stayed\nput while we photographed them.<\/p>\n\n
