I'm looking for recommendations for a photo<\/span>-viewing app for my iPad;\nApple's “Photos” app has too many bugs and limitations for my needs. What I\nwant<\/span> seems simple — an elegant way with which to impose my photos\nonto someone hapless to come within an eyeball's reach of me — but I\nhaven't<\/span> found it yet.<\/p>\n\n

Features that I hope for:<\/p>\n

    \n

  1. Clean, simple, uncluttered interface.<\/p><\/li>\n\n

  2. Photo update via FTP, Dropbox, or some other method where management is done on my computer and merely reflected to the device.<\/p><\/li>\n\n

  3. Supports display of basic metadata on each photo, when asked.<\/p><\/li>\n\n

  4. Supports display of a map for geoencoded photos.<\/p><\/li>\n\n

  5. Supports large images.<\/p><\/li>\n\n

  6. An arbitrarily-deep folder structure.<\/p><\/li>\n\n

  7. Image sorting: at least via photo date and image filename.<\/p><\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n

    Things that I don't care about:<\/p>\n\n

      \n\n

    1. Any kind of photo management on the device (rating, flagging, moving, grouping, renaming, rotating, labeling, ...)<\/p><\/li>\n\n

    2. Any kind of photo development on the device (cropping, filters, touch-ups, etc.)<\/p><\/li>\n\n

    3. Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, or anything else like that.<\/p><\/li>\n\n

    4. Passwords, slideshows, music integration, etc.<\/p><\/li>\n\n<\/ol>\n\n

      The best I've found so far is Photo\nManager Pro<\/a> by Linkus, after Scott\nBourne recommended it<\/a>. It's a great<\/span> bargain for a couple<\/span> of bucks, and\nit does many things I like.<\/span> To boot, the developer is responsive, and the current version of the app contains some features and fixes that I\nrequested.<\/span> I like it<\/span> so much that I built<\/span> an FTP client into my new\nCollection Publisher<\/a> plugin\nfor Lightroom, so that I can<\/span> instantly reflect changes in my portfolio to the app.<\/p>\n\n

      But alas, Photo Manager Pro's<\/i> interface is anything but “clean\nand uncluttered” and I doubt<\/span> one request from me would result in a\nmonumental<\/span> shift in aesthetics, so I'm looking for other options.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
