I've been taking it easy this year because I'm still recovering from the\ncold I woke<\/span> up with on 1\/1, but after posting Paul Barr's inspired\ncreation<\/a> yesterday, I thought<\/span> I'd look into my own photo archive to see\nwhat I was<\/span> doing when he took that photo. I was standing<\/span> next to Paul, but\naiming my camera at a the<\/span> sliding walls of a nearby<\/span> building, with the\nthought that it might make a nice<\/span> desktop background.<\/p>\n\n

One thing I like about it is that even though it's full of detail, it's\nnot necessarily clear right away what you're looking at, so you really need\nto engage with the photo to understand the setting. The bit of<\/span> confusion\nfollowed by an understanding is somehow interesting to me.<\/p>\n\n

This is the same temple complex we were heading to in last month's colorful\n“On The Path To Kyoto's Jingoji Temple<\/a>”,\nbut this particular scene is decidingly bland, which is why I went<\/span> with a slightly<\/span> edgy B&W version to open\nthis post, and is perhaps also why Paul went with the pencil-drawing look seen yesterday.<\/p>\n\n
