I have no idea why I like this shot, but I did<\/span> at first glance, and I still<\/span> do, so here it is. It's one of<\/span> the first shots I took<\/span> on a visit<\/span> to the most fabulous Yoshiminedera Temple (\u5584\u5cef\u5bfa)<\/span> in southern Kyoto\nlast year, with Paul Barr. (As an aside, Paul is likely at this very moment on a flight<\/span> from The States to make another visit this year, but that's a post<\/span> for next week).<\/p>\n\n

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago in “Kyoto Fall-Color\nPreview With Impact: Impressionism in Lightroom<\/a>”, I found<\/span> thousands of photos in my Lightroom catalog from last\nautumn that I hadn't<\/span> even looked at. This morning when I opened<\/span> up Lightroom and visited the set of photos from the\nYoshiminedera trip wth Paul, I got sidetracked<\/span> by the\npolorization-filter examples<\/a> that I came<\/span> across, but I had<\/span> intended to post some of the nicer shots. I did manage<\/span> to\npost a few<\/span> the evening after our visit<\/a> a year<\/span> ago, but most still\nwaited for even a first<\/span> look.<\/p>\n\n

At this point I'm only about 15% of the way through the shots, and haven't reached anything really<\/i>\nspectacular, but I hold<\/span> hope it's still waiting. I'm posting<\/span> now what I've accumulated so far, though I do<\/span> wish I had<\/span>\ndone this during the spring, as I'd intended.<\/p>\n\n

It's been the same buliding in all the photos so far. There's nothing partiuclarly special about this building...\nit's just the entrance gate to the shrine complex, and there are many more like it (or much more grandious) elsewhere on\nthe grounds. But for the<\/span> purposes of this post it's special because it's the first one you come aross when you visit,\nand as I said,<\/span> I've made it only about 15% of the way into my shots from the visit.<\/p>\n\n

Even though they're found at temples all over Japan, few know the word for the rain-of-cups downspout like seen above. This includes me except for when I remember<\/span> to\nrefer back to this post<\/a>, and I'm reminded for a few<\/span> moments until it again slips from my mind.<\/p>\n\n
