because of its large population of wild rabbits. <span class='nobr'>The rabbits<\/span> have domesticated humans, having them provide food in return for the rabbits looking cute.\nAnthony <a href='\/blog\/2009-06-10\/1232'>has been<\/a> <span class='nobr'>a couple<\/span> of times with Fumie's folks, but\ntoday was the first time we took him.<\/p>\n\n<p>We had to leave before sunset, but it was still <span class='nobr'>a pleasant<\/span> view.<\/p>\n\n<p>After arriving back on the mainland, the ferry turned around for the next trip...<\/p>\n\n<div class='ic tight'><a name=\"101401\" href='\/i\/JF7_101401.jpg'\n><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/JF7_101401_sm.jpg\" width=\"690\" height=\"357\"\nalt=\"\"\nid=\"i101401\"\nphotostream=\"misc\"\/><\/a>\n<br\/><span class=\"camera-info robots-nocontent\">Nikon D700 + Nikkor 70-200mm f\/2.8 @ 200mm &mdash; it's just heading out on another run, but &#8220;heading home&#8221; makes for <span class='nobr'>a better<\/span> caption :-))<\/p>\n\n\n<p>In the far background, you can just make out <span class='nobr'>a large<\/span> suspension bridge.\nIt's <a href='http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tatara_Bridge'>one<\/a> of the many on the <i><a href='http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nishiseto_Expressway'>shimanami kaido<\/a><\/i> road that hops and skips islands for the 50km\nor so needed to connect the Japanese mainland to Shikoku, one of the big\nislands of Japan, as <span class='nobr'>I mentioned<\/span> earlier in the year in <a\nhref='\/blog\/2011-04-21\/1751'>this post<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p><i><a href='\/blog\/2011-10-30\/1872' class='quiet'>Continued here...<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We spent the day at Okunoshima Island (\u5927\u4e45\u91ce\u5cf6), a small island in Japan's Seto Inland Sea with an unsavory history, now better known as \"Rabbit Island\" because of its large population of wild rabbits.
