I was surprised to see this price list posted randomly along the path. It lists<\/span> initial “offering” fees for permission to put up a gate.<\/span> The amounts<\/span> range from about US$5,000 for a small<\/span> gate with 18cm (7\") diameter\nuprights, to about $17,000 for one-foot-diameter uprights. Of course, these\nare “starting at...” fees, and “the fee may differ according to location”,\nand one suspects that there are annual fees as well. And, of course, one\nassumes that this does not cover the cost of the gate itself.<\/p>\n\n

It was fairly hot, and ridiculously humid, and by the time we got about\nhalf way we were absolutely swimming in our own sweat, so this inviting\ndisplay of soda half submerged in cool water was too tempting to pass up.\nThey also had water dripping into the display, making it sound like a small<\/span>\nmountain stream. I succumbed.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

Later, on the way back down via a different<\/span> route,\nLauren noticed some bamboo gates on a side<\/span> path...<\/p>\n\n
