I've been singularly uninspired to post lately, but had hoped that the typhoons I mentioned<\/span><\/a>\ntwo weeks ago would create some dynamic weather, which might make for some\ninteresting shots like\nthis<\/a>. It took a<\/span> week before slow-moving Typhoon #12 (“Talas”) arrived,\nbut it veered west at the last minute and so unfortunately there wasn't\nmuch in the way of “interesting” in Kyoto. Even more\nunfortunately, there was way too much “interesting” in some\nareas 100 miles away where they got, literally, two feet of rain (24.5\ninches) in 24 hours, and with it the accompanying flooding, landslides, and\nhigh death toll.:-(<\/p>\n\n

But back as it passed through, Kyoto got some gusty winds and occasional\nsprays of rain, but mostly it was dry, so I ventured<\/span> out just a bit<\/span> with\nthe camera.<\/p>\n\n

The shrine was schedule to be the site of a concert<\/span> for some pop star<\/a>, but\nit ended up being postponed. Temples and shrines, with their tax-exempt\nstatus, sometimes host these types of things; years ago, we saw Kousuke Atari at the\nItsukushima Shrine near Hiroshima<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
