{"id":180,"date":"2006-04-18T01:16:36","date_gmt":"2006-04-17T16:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2006-04-18\/180"},"modified":"2007-12-06T21:28:54","modified_gmt":"2007-12-06T12:28:54","slug":"long-night-exposures-and-cherry-blossoms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2006-04-18\/180","title":{"rendered":"Long Night Exposures and Cherry Blossoms"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p>\n\nStepping out last night on the way to the convenience store, <span class='nobr'>I was struck<\/span>\nby the halting appearance of the cherry blossoms lit by the streetlamps. <span class='nobr'>I decided<\/span> to get my tripod and try some long exposures to see whether <span class='nobr'>I could<\/span>\ncapture the mood, but found that attempting <span class='nobr'>a 30<\/span>-second exposure was <span class='nobr'>a sure<\/span>\nway to bring up <span class='nobr'>a breeze,<\/span> thereby ruining the shot.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nAfter a while, <span class='nobr'>I packed<\/span> things up, only to see the wind totally stop. <span class='nobr'>So I tried<\/span> again, and sure enough, the breeze returned.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nSo, <span class='nobr'>I tried<\/span> <span class='nobr'>a number<\/span> of different views that didn't rely so strongly on the\ntrees remaining perfectly still, and this shot came out nicely:\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"img_center\">\n<a href=\"\/i\/_JEF014170.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/_JEF014170_sm.jpg\" width=\"675\" height=\"454\"\nalt=\"Shirakawa river, in Okazaki, Kyoto, Japan, April 2006\"\nid=\"iJEF014170\"\nphotostream=\"japan\"\ntitle=\"Shirakawa river, in Okazaki, Kyoto, Japan, April 2006\"\/><\/a>\n<br\/>\n<font color=\"gray\" size=\"-1\">27mm @ f\/10 \/ ISO 800 \/ 30 seconds &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(click to expand)<\/font>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>\n\nIt was quite dark at the time (10:30pm), and the picture shows much more\nthan <span class='nobr'>I could<\/span> actually see at the time. For example, the litter of blossom\npetals all over the path were not easily seen.
