{"id":1779,"date":"2011-05-24T23:48:28","date_gmt":"2011-05-24T14:48:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2011-05-24\/1779"},"modified":"2014-10-24T22:28:41","modified_gmt":"2014-10-24T13:28:41","slug":"the-unexpected-culinary-delights-of-kyotos-chez-luc-and-roppongis-le-grand-soir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2011-05-24\/1779","title":{"rendered":"The Unexpected Culinary Delights of Roppongi&#8217;s Le Grand Soir"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<div class='resize_warning' id='arw1779'>\n<b>NOTE<\/b>: Images with an <img class='raw' width='19' height='18' src='\/i\/s\/red_zoomup.gif'\/> icon next to them have been artificially shrunk to better fit your screen; click the icon to restore them, in place, to their regular size.\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>After picking up my <a href='\/blog\/2011-05-11\/1769'>new\nlens<\/a> in Roppongi earlier this month, <span class='nobr'>I thought<\/span> I'd better nourish up\nbefore walking around for some <a\nhref='\/blog\/2011-05-07\/1763'>big-lens street\nphotography<\/a>, and had the good fortune to walk into <a\nhref='http:\/\/www.le-grandsoir.com\/'>Le Grand Soir<\/a>. <span class='nobr'>The style<\/span> was modern\nurban sophisticated (the chef used to work in Paris), but without any pretense or ostentation.<\/p>\n\n<p>I had a lightly seasoned breaded chicken leg, and it was without\nquestion, by far... utterly in <span class='nobr'>a class<\/span> by itself... the best piece of chicken <span class='nobr'>I\nhave<\/span> ever had. Anywhere. (Sorry Mom.)<\/p>\n\n<p>Really, with food this good, there's no way to calculate &#8220;value&#8221;, but\nthe whole lunch was <span class='nobr'>a shockingly<\/span> low 1,000 yen (about US$13). Best. Value.\nOn. The. Planet. <span class='nobr'>I think<\/span> it's because they just recently opened, and are\ntrying to drum up some word of mouth. It's worked. If I'm anywhere within\n100 miles again, I'll treat myself again. <span class='nobr'>It's just that<\/span> good.<\/p>\n\n<p>Japanese and English spoken, and <span class='nobr'>I presume<\/span> French. <span class='nobr'>Le Grand<\/span> Soir is <span class='nobr'>a\nminute<\/span> or two west of Roppongi Station's Exit #2.
