Daniel Cutter asked<\/a> whether I'd tried the “Camo\nDuck” shot on my previous post<\/a> in black and white. The nature<\/span> of\nthe original shot had it almost all monochrome to begin with, except for\nthe duck itself, but prior to Daniel's comment I hadn't<\/span> thought to take it all the way\nto pure monochrome.<\/p>\n\n

But, it's easy enough with Lightroom (as simple as the “v”\nkeyboard shortcut). Wow. I then tweaked<\/span> the B & W conversion a bit<\/span> to\nmelt the duck away a bit<\/span> further, and here we are.<\/p>\n\n

I'm not sure whether it's photography, but it's fun. Thanks for the idea, Daniel.<\/p>\n\n

It's all the more fun in this case because I took<\/span> the original shot in passing (literally, while walking) just because the duck happened to be\nthere as I was<\/span> going by. I knew instinctively<\/span> that I'd probably just\ndelete it as soon as I got<\/span> home, but upon inspection, the patterns in the\nwater and the uncharacteristically sharp focus on the feathers saved it from the\nbit bucket.<\/p>\n\n

Serendipity.<\/p>\n\n

And for a bit more serendipity, while I was<\/span> typing up this post, the zoomed-up version was sitting on my screen,\nand it's nice enough that I'll tack a crop<\/span> onto the end of the post for good measure...<\/p>\n\n
