On our short trip to\nShoudoshima Island<\/a> at the end of the year, I took advantage<\/span> of some post-sickness insomnia<\/a> to\ntry an impromptu moonrise shot from the balcony of our room. It was freezing<\/span> outside (literally) and the wind was howling something fierce,\nbut I was<\/span> able to let the camera sit on the edge of a wall<\/span> for a long<\/span> exposure.<\/p>\n\n

I'm pretty sure that the dotted lights on the horizon under the moon are\non the Naruto Bridge<\/a>\nconnecting Awaji Island with Shikoku, 28 miles away.<\/p>\n\n

That's Venus to the lower left of the moon.<\/p>\n\n

This makes me realize suddenly that the background land seen in this sunset<\/a> I posted<\/span> last\nyear must be the Shoudoshima, so today's sunrise is a “reverse angle” of\nlast year's sunset.<\/p>\n\n

The sun quickly hid behind some clouds, but once it rose a bit,<\/span> the\ncolor shifted toward a more<\/span> normal orange\/yellow, and there was a short<\/span>\nspan with nice sunbeams emerging from the clouds...<\/p>\n\n
