\nAs I've said before, Spring and Fall are Kyoto's glorious seasons, and this\nspring seems to be no exception.\n<\/p>\n\n

\n\nThese times bring out photographers like flys to honey, and in that regard\nI am<\/span> obviously no exception. Yesterday on the way to the gym, Katsunori\nShimada and I stopped<\/span> by the outside grounds of a small<\/span> temple in the\nYamashina ward of Kyoto (the Zuishin-in Temple<\/a>) to see their plum blossoms.\n\n<\/p>

\n\nPlum blossoms bloom a bit earlier than the cherry blossoms. Cherry blossoms\nare brilliantly fluffy and white, while plum blossoms are more pink\n(sometimes a very<\/span> deep pink), and less fluffy.\n\n<\/p>\n\n

\nThere were plenty of other people with nice cameras:\n<\/p>\n\n

\n\nMore common, though, were those taking quick snapshots with their cell phone, like\nthis lady:<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n\n

\n\n\nThe problem with all these photographs is that it's unequivocally\nimpossible to capture in a picture<\/span> the beauty of these blossoms. They\nreally must be experienced firsthand. (I did<\/span> give a go<\/span> last year trying to\ncapture the beauty with poetry about cherry\nblossoms<\/a>, which you might enjoy.)\n\n<\/p>

\n\nToday it was warm and sunny, and we thought that the cherry blossoms around\nour place would explode into bloom, but they haven't quite yet. The buds are<\/span> all there and just starting to open, so I expect<\/span> they'll start blooming\nin the next day or three. This year's season seems to be about two weeks\nahead of last year<\/a>, where\nthe bloom<\/a> hit quite\nlate, on April 8th.\n\n<\/p>\n\n
