Picking up after “Reception, Part IV (Mingling)<\/a>” in the series about my brother-in-law's\nwedding<\/a> two weeks ago, it was then time for some entertainment, starting off with\na video<\/span> presentation by one of Shogo's college buddies...<\/p>\n\n

He'd made a great video showing a bunch<\/span> of pictures of Shogo over the years,\nto better acquaint Namiko with her husband. Apparently Shogo's nickname\namong those friends is Mattsun<\/i> \u300c\u307e\u3063\u3064\u3093\u300d, which is pretty funny in its own right....<\/p>\n\n

For the next event, the doors opened and twenty or so members of the singing group where Shogo and Namiko met entered....<\/p>\n\n

I knew that Shogo was a member of a “Gospel” singing group, but hadn't really understood that it meant\nin Japanese exactly what it means in English: they sang full-bodied English-language gospel music...<\/p>\n\n

They really got into it, though I'm sure I was<\/span> the only one in the room\nwho understood the lyrics straight away, and I doubt<\/span> many (any?) are\nactually Christian. As I said<\/span> in the lead post<\/a> of this series, I was continually<\/span> and pleasantly surprised at Shogo's exuberant nature this\nday, and his performance with the group was pretty much the pinnacle of my\nsurprise.<\/p>\n\n
