Part six of posts about my brother-in-law's\nwedding<\/a> last week picks up from the previous post<\/a>, about\nthe reception at the point when the couple had stepped out to prepare for\nanother phase of the reception. With the couple out of the room, the\nmingling among the guests took up in earnest...<\/p>\n\n

Namiko's parents were also making the rounds to mingle with the guests,\nbringing smiles and beer, in the picture above chatting with Fumie's cousin\nSatomi. After snapping the picture I intended<\/span> to stand and visit with them\nmyself, but was suddenly interrupted by a seven<\/span>-year-old boy with a sudden<\/span>\nand apparently urgent need to use the bathroom, so I ended<\/span> up missing that\nchance.<\/p>\n\n

While waiting in the hall for Anthony, one of the staff let me know\nquietly that the couple would soon make a dramatic<\/span> and unannounced grand\nentrance at the top of the stairs, so I should<\/span> get ready with the camera,\nbut to be sure not to tip off the others by being too obvious about it.<\/p>\n\n

Namiko had changed from her wedding gown into a western<\/span> evening gown, as\nis common at many Japanese weddings.<\/p>\n\n

Their descent ended right in front of my chair, where they paused for\neffect and photos, and I was<\/span> well aware that sitting normally I'd be right\nin everyone's way, so I slunk<\/span> down as low as I could<\/span> go. At least<\/span> it made\nfor the sort of interesting shot above.<\/p>\n\n

Once the lights came up and they moved over a bit,<\/span> I felt better<\/span> about\nsitting up normally, and could try for some off-the-cuff portraits...<\/p>\n\n

I'm quite partial to this kind of boutonniere shot, since having\nstumbled upon this shot<\/a> of my\nbrother Mike's boutonniere at my brother Alan's wedding not long after\ngetting my first DSLR, and then getting this shot<\/a> at a friend's<\/span>\nwedding a couple<\/span> of years ago. Having a bit<\/span> of the bride in this one really\nadds a touch<\/span> I like.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

This photo op done, the couple moved on to their own mingling phase,\nvisiting each table to pay their respects...<\/p>\n\n

The first table they visited was ours, and when they brought out the\nletters and balloons, Anthony got the “H” and started to be silly with it,\nsetting the pace for all the tables. The guy in<\/span> the photo above is exactly\nmimicking what Anthony did, which Anthony quickly points out whenever he sees\nthese photos.<\/p>\n\n
