For example, the\n<span class='nobr'>Nikkor 18<\/span>-200VR <span class='nobr'>I used<\/span> <a href=\"\/blog\/2008-05-22\/821\">on <span class='nobr'>a\ncamping<\/span> trip<\/a> <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span> years ago left all the ocean horizons &mdash; which\nshould be flat &mdash; with <span class='nobr'>a strong<\/span> bow.<\/p>\n\n<p>Even top-level lenses need some corrections... the video shows an\nexample with <span class='nobr'>a Zeiss.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>The recent <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.dpreview.com\/news\/1004\/10041602sigmalesadobecs5.asp\">announcement\nby Sigma<\/a> that it's providing lens-correction profiles for Photoshop\nbodes well for Lightroom and <a\nhref=\"\/blog\/2010-04-14\/1492\">my new Sigma Bigma<\/a>. <span class='nobr'>I\nhaven't<\/span> noticed yet whether The Bigma suffers from much distortion, but\nit's <span class='nobr'>a 10<\/span>&times; superzoom, so I'd assume it does. <span class='nobr'>One thing<\/span> <span class='nobr'>I have<\/span>\nnoticed, though, is that it has strong vignetting in some cases, so it\ncould certainly use this new Lr3 lens-correction feature just on that\ncount.<\/p>\n\n<p>Can't wait!<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sneak-preview video of a lens-correction feature that will be part of Lightroom 3:<\/p> <p style='margin-left:3em; font-weight:bold'>Photoshop and Lightroom Lens Correction Feature Preview<\/p> <p>The video shows ACR (Adobe Camera Raw), but the presenter (Tom Hogarty, Lightroom's product manager) makes it clear that the same functionality will be part of Lr3 as well.<\/p> <p>The ability to correct for lens distortion will be so welcome, especially for lenses that have lots of compromises.
