The second day I had my new Sigma “Bigma” 50-500mm OS\nsuper-zoom lens<\/a>, I took a<\/span> short stroll around town in the morning. The first<\/span> thing I found<\/span> were these pretty pink blossoms, and I thought<\/span> to try\nmultiple apertures to see the bokeh<\/a>. I like it<\/span> a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

I'm less sure how I like it in the next shot...<\/p>\n\n

Stepping onto the sidewalk, the first thing I see<\/span> — way down the\nstreet — were some monks (or whatever... I'm not sure<\/span> the proper\nterm, sorry), so I thought<\/span> to reach out with The Bigma's long arm to greet\nthem...<\/p>\n\n

They were plenty far away, so I had<\/span> a few<\/span> moments as they approached to\nthink about a better<\/span> framing, and tried to get them with some blossoms in\nthe background, but it seems to fall flat....<\/p>\n\n

I switch to “C” (continuous) focus mode... something I've learned I'm\nnot very good at... and tried to get their feet, and got one that I think<\/span>\nhas some merit...<\/p>\n\n

(Pseudo-) macro of the grill of a Jaguar.<\/span> The grill<\/span> is not flat, and I\nwas<\/span> not perfectly perpendicular, so the pattern of what's in focus and not\nin focus is very weird, and frankly somewhat disturbing, because it brings\nto mind the same kind of fuzzy-at-the-fringes results one might get from a\nreally<\/span> bad lens.<\/p>\n\n
