I horribly missed focus on this one, as I have<\/span> on many of these. The depth<\/span> of focus is pretty thin at 500mm, so I was<\/span> sometimes trying “C”\ncontinuous) focus mode on moving subjects, something that I have<\/span> little\nexperience or confidence with, so I accept<\/span> all blame for the missed-focus\nshots.<\/p>\n\n

Missed the focus on the one above as well, by just a bit.<\/span> Adding a\nsmidgen<\/span> of extra sharpening in Lightroom does wonders to the mushiness you\nsee at full resolution, but like all the photos on this post and most on\nthe previous, I present<\/span> it here with all the detail-related Lightroom\ndevelop settings are at their defaults.<\/p>\n\n

The shots above rounded out those from yesterday. (I've got more already from today, but I'll save those for Part III.)<\/p>\n\n

Once I got the shots loaded into Lightroom, I ran my<\/span> Data-Plot\nfocal-length-plot plugin<\/a> on the results, and was not surprised to find\nthat I took<\/span> half the shots at the extreme long end of the zoom:<\/p>\n\n

Actually, I was a<\/span> bit surprised that it wasn't even more. Having that\nmuch reach was a new<\/span> and novel experience, so of course I wanted<\/span> to play\nwith that aspect of it.<\/p>\n\n
