They have one of those\nvoice-navigation phone systems (&#8220;say 'card' to pay by card; say\n'check' to pay by check&#8221;) that for some reason <span class='nobr'>I find<\/span> really\nannoying. (Most of what <span class='nobr'>I find<\/span> <span class='nobr'>I want<\/span> to say to such systems are words they\nwould likely not recognize, and which are not printable in <span class='nobr'>a refined<\/span> forum\nsuch as my blog \ud83d\ude42 )\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nAnyway, <span class='nobr'>I navigate<\/span> through entering my account number and credit card\nnumber, but it keeps reporting that there's an error of some sort with my\ncard number and perhaps I'd like to try entering it again. After <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span>\nrounds of this, <span class='nobr'>I hang up<\/span> and call back to talk to <span class='nobr'>a human.<\/span> After <span class='nobr'>a five<\/span>\nminute wait, <span class='nobr'>I reach<\/span> someone and mention that the pay-by-phone thing had\ntrouble with my credit card, to which she replied &#8220;oh, it doesn't\naccept credit cards -- you need to use <span class='nobr'>a debit<\/span> card&#8221;.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nWell <b>geez<\/b>, thanks for telling me. <span class='nobr'>Why on earth<\/span> didn't the\npay-by-phone service thing say that credit cards aren't accepted?!\nHow moronic.\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> So, I call up PG&amp;E to make a payment on the gas\/electricity for the Cupertino house.
