Recovering now from a third cold in about as many weeks, the photo above\nrepresents my backlog of email and blog comments that I have<\/span> not gotten to\nin the last month. If one is<\/span> from you, sorry.<\/p>\n\n

Feeling good enough this evening finally to want to write something (but\nnot enough to want to deal with email), I'll begin the foray into Day\nThree of our very snowy, fairly photogenic four-day trip over the new-year\nholiday. My previous post\non the trip<\/a> closed out Day Two, and summarized the 14 posts that came\nfrom that day's snowy adventures.<\/p>\n\n

While the second day of the trip was characterized by a lot<\/span> of snow\nwhere we had driven that day, to the south of where we were staying, the\nthird day was characterized by a lot<\/span> of snow where we were staying. There\nwas a bit<\/span> of snow on the ground when we had arrived on the\nfirst day<\/a>, but today was something different....<\/p>\n\n

After breakfast, Fumie went back to the cabin to relax, and Anthony and\nI went<\/span> out for a long<\/span> exploratory walk to the dam we can see\nfrom the cabin<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n

And so began our long walk.<\/p>\n\n

It's been three months since the trip, but I have<\/span> truly not even looked\nat the photos beyond this last one yet. I remember<\/span> the scenery and\noccasions as being remarkably photogenic, probably increasingly so in my\nmind as time passes, so I'm sure actually looking at them tomorrow for the\nnext post will be an exercise in disappointment, but that's the way it\ngoes. The backlog<\/span> of photos that I want<\/span> to process and post about\n(“photo\nconstipation<\/a>”) is mostly the same embarrassment of riches<\/a>\nthat I've long suffered, living in as photogenic a place<\/span> as Kyoto, but it's\nbeen compounded lately by multiple colds in quick succession, a problem<\/span>\nthat's plagued me<\/a> in\nFeb-Apr most years since moving to Japan this time six years ago. Maybe I'm\njust getting old.<\/p>\n\n
