So, it's been a week since “Introduction to a Snowy<\/span>\nGokayama Village<\/a>”, and though I intended<\/span> to pick up where I left<\/span>\noff right away, I got sidetracked<\/span> with related posts\n“Rosy Cheeks<\/a>”,\n“Japan's Deep-Rooted Ethos of Fire Prevention<\/a>”,\n“Snowy Mountains<\/a>”,\nand\n“Shutter Speed's Effect on Falling Snow<\/a>”.\nSo, picking up where I left<\/span> off in the Introduction<\/i> post, more on our stroll through this picturesque frozen countryside...<\/p>\n\n\n

I'm really disappointed with this last shot... the scene offered so much\npotential, but my composition here is just pathetic. Would like to return\nin time to that spot to try the shot again. I haven't<\/span> seen Fumie's\nphone-camera shot yet... it probably better.<\/p>\n\n

The house above looks to be someone's private residence, as most of the\nhouses in the village are, but I seem<\/span> to remember that this one\nmight<\/i> have been turned into a museum<\/span> of some sort, and if so, it\nseems to be both closed for business today, and lacking in the signage\ndepartment.... both of which the photographer in me appreciates!<\/p>\n\n

We saw only one car in the village the whole time we were there, and we\nsaw it twice, as it had issues getting up the hill seen between the two\nhouses in the shot above. He got up<\/span> halfway the first time, got stuck,\nreversed all the way back down, then got a running<\/span> start and the second\ntime he seems to have made it.<\/p>\n\n

It's about this time that Anthony climbed up onto a snowy<\/span> rise and I got<\/span> the\nRosy Cheeks<\/a> shot, and most\nof the shots in the\nShutter Speed's Effect<\/a> post.<\/p>\n\n

Up the hill (that the car had troubles with) to the left is a private<\/span>\nresidence that now has a cafe<\/span> in part of it...<\/p>\n\n

The railing seen at right is around what looks like a small<\/span> swimming pool... a reservoir<\/span>\nof water for fire-fighting purposes, as described in the\nDeep-Rooted Ethos<\/a> post.<\/p>\n\n
