So I watched the unveiling\nof the Apple iPad event<\/a>. I was not<\/span> surprised about the product, but I\nwas<\/span> very surprised at Steve Job's performance. Normally he's a really<\/span>\ndynamic presenter who quickly grabs the audience and takes them on a\nthrill<\/span> ride with him, but I guess<\/span> his health issues have left him hollow,\nbecause he was flat out boring. He would<\/span> offer some fact, then tell us that\nit's “amazing” or “incredible” or “unbelievable”, instead of letting the\nfact speak for itself, egged on by the thrilling way he would tell it. I was as<\/span> embarrassed for his presentation skills as he would be of my bank\naccount.<\/p>\n\n

But how far he's fallen on the sound-bite stage was most apparent when\nhe revealed the price. He mentioned<\/span> that the pre-announcement speculation\nput the price at about $999, and he showed a slide<\/span> with that price writ\nlarge, and all I could<\/span> think was that he should say:<\/p>\n\n

“ ....and that is<\/i> the price..............      .......for two!<\/i><\/b> ”<\/center>\n\n

That would have had impact<\/i>, and try as I might<\/span> to will<\/i> him\nto say it, alas, it didn't work, and he just came out and gave the price\nwith as much excitement as a DMV<\/span> worker telling you to wait in line. At least<\/span> in his defense, his price was 50 cents lower<\/i> than the\ntwo-for-$999 price I had<\/span> tried to will him to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
