how\ndrawn <span class='nobr'>I was<\/span> to the curved shapes among the many items in <a\nhref=\"\/blog\/2009-12-10\/1392\">the gardens behind the\nNishimura Stone Lanterns stone-carving workshop<\/a>. <span class='nobr'>I recall<\/span> several\nmoss-covered basins, but <span class='nobr'>I seem<\/span> to have neglected to take pictures of any. <span class='nobr'>I'm really<\/span> drawn to them while reviewing the day's photos, but <span class='nobr'>I apparently<\/span>\ndidn't pay much attention while <span class='nobr'>I was<\/span> there because the only photos <span class='nobr'>I have<\/span>\nof them are Paul Barr's, who went with me on that trip.<\/p>\n\n<p>One of my favorites is the plain curved water basin that <span class='nobr'>I featured<\/span> in\nmy &#8220;<a class='pt' href=\"\/blog\/2009-12-04\/1386\">Paul Barr +\nStonecarver\u2019s Garden + Lightroom<\/a>&#8221; post truly had no post-processing except for\nresizing, so its white balance setting remained at what the camera guessed\nat. <span class='nobr'>The one above<\/span> was set after using <span class='nobr'>a netural<\/span> card for reference, <a\nhref=\"\/blog\/2009-12-10\/1392#027693\">like this<\/a> and <a\nhref=\"\/blog\/2009-11-30\/1381#027152\">this<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>In looking at the two above &ndash; moss <i>vs.<\/i> stone &ndash; <span class='nobr'>I very<\/span>\nmuch prefer the second. <span class='nobr'>I vaguely<\/span> recall <span class='nobr'>a really<\/span> great moss-covered basin,\nbut <span class='nobr'>I can't<\/span> find it in the photos. <span class='nobr'>I guess<\/span> I'll have to just head back to\ncheck it out. <span class='nobr'>The current<\/span> forecast is for <span class='nobr'>a touch<\/span> of snow tomorrow night\n(New Year's Eve), so maybe <span class='nobr'>a trip<\/span> back to the gardens on Jan 1 will be in\norder.... <span class='nobr'>a little<\/span> frost-dusted moss might make for <span class='nobr'>a pretty<\/span> sight.<\/p>\n\n<p>Like I said, <span class='nobr'>I barely<\/span> noticed these things while <span class='nobr'>I was<\/span> there, so I'm\nvery glad that Paul gave me <span class='nobr'>a dump<\/span> of all his shots, and the permission to\nshare them. <span class='nobr'>He's an excellent<\/span> photogrpher with <span class='nobr'>a great<\/span> eye, so it's too bad\nthat he doesn't have the time\/energy to share them in an online gallery\nhimself. <span class='nobr'>He just enjoys<\/span> taking pictures. <span class='nobr'>I can't<\/span> say that <span class='nobr'>I blame<\/span> him... to\nshare them takes <span class='nobr'>a lot<\/span> of effort, even with great tools like Lightroom.<\/p>\n\n<p>On the other hand, keeping in mind my blog while I'm out with the camera\n&ndash;
