The picture above is not that special, but for some reason really grows\non me as a desktop<\/span> background. When viewed big, there's just something\nabout it that I like,<\/span> giving my current\ndesktop-background image<\/a> a run<\/span> for its money.<\/p>\n\n

It was the view just outside the window at the Toganojaya Restaurant in\nthe north-west mountains of Kyoto, Japan, which we visited this past\nweekend (and was the subject of the four previous posts:\n\none<\/a>, two<\/a>, three<\/a>, and four<\/a>). In this post<\/span> are a few<\/span> final pictures from that visit...<\/p>\n\n

The same branch that heads out of frame in the lower left of the shot\nabove reached all the way out over the river, and made a big<\/span> canopy of\nbacklit leaves....<\/p>\n\n

We figured that this place would be gorgeous<\/i> during the fall\nwhen these momiji<\/i> turn color, but one of the waiters told us that\nbecause it's cold here in the mountains, the leaves fall off before they\nreally turn, so the view is at its most enjoyable now.<\/p>\n\n

Down by the river there was some bamboo with odd-looking growths..<\/p>\n\n

Up at the restaurant, they'd covered an ugly corrugated plastic awning\nwith something that fit better into the “nature” thing they had going\nthere. Like the bottle of spice with the commercial label replaced by a\nsimple<\/span> label with the restaurant name, or the vase near our\ntable<\/a>, the attention to detail succeeded so well because you didn't\neven notice it unless you looked.<\/p>\n\n

Fumie read about this restaurant on a Japanese<\/span> food\nblog<\/a> that someone writes anonymously. They have good taste in\nrestaurants and good writing\/presentation skills... she also found the Kamo no\nShirabe<\/i> cafe<\/a> we visited last year (and again this year) through that\nblog.<\/p>\n\n
