The blow-up slide was intended to be installed with its base under a\nfoot<\/span> of water, which means that it would displace almost four cubic feet of\nwater, which means that it would displace about 250lbs of water, which\nmeans that even if I put<\/span> all my weight on it, I wouldn't<\/span> be able to get it\nfully submerged. The instructions<\/span> were – and I quote<\/span> in full –\n“Assemble the pool”, which doesn't indicate what I later<\/span> figured out on my\nown: I should<\/span> have tied down the slide before adding water. Still, I wonder<\/span> whether the blow-up slide would have been able to withstand the pressure of\na foot<\/span> of water.<\/p>\n\n

In any case, the blow-up slide couldn't withstand much at all because it\nhad a manufacturing<\/span> defect that left it with a leaky<\/span> valve. But Grace<\/span> was\ninventive and turned it upside down and rode it like a car,<\/span> at least until\nit got too floppy.<\/p>\n\n

Josh, then, considered the archway of sprinklers as a car<\/span> wash...<\/p>\n\n
