In a previous post I wrote all about\nKidZania<\/a> in Kobe, Japan, but didn't mention anything about Anthony's\nexperiences there because I thought<\/span> I'd save them for a second<\/span> post.\nHowever, being the photo-happy papa I am,<\/span> this post ended up getting filled\nafter just his first job!<\/p>\n\n

As I mentioned in that previous post, Anthony had one job he really\nwanted to do, so we went directly there and got in line. Each session lasts\nabout 15 minutes; and he'd have to wait during the first session, and would\nfinally get to “work” during the second.<\/p>\n\n

While waiting, he and the other three boys were suited up in their\nuniforms, including the hygienic hair-net under their uniform\nheadgear...<\/p>\n\n

Finally, it was his turn..... to work at a gas<\/span> station!<\/p>\n\n

Idemitu<\/a>, having been\naround since 1911, is perhaps the most famous gas station chain in Japan.<\/p>\n\n

The lady droned on and on. After what must have been an excruciatingly\nlong eight minutes of blather, their first customer arrived...<\/p>\n\n

This motioning to continue forward, accompanied by a very<\/span> thick\nJapanization of “Alright, alright...” is a standard<\/span> part of the culture,\nused anywhere vehicles are being directed (gas stations, loading docks,\nhelping someone back into a parking<\/span> spot, etc.). It's also part<\/span> of every\nkid's play whenever the play involves this kind of vehicle direction, real\nor imagined.<\/p>\n\n

And so with that, his “job” got under its realistic way.<\/p>\n\n

Once all the fullness has been serviced and payment rendered, everyone\nlines up to bow farewell to the customer.<\/p>\n\n

Whoever built KidZania did not keep parents in mind when designing the\nlayout... it was often hard to see him, and there was nowhere to sit (and\noften nowhere to stand). Only kids were allowed into the “businesses”,\nwhich is great, but a little<\/span> extra room for the parents would have been nice.<\/p>\n\n

And, while I'm at it, a lot better lighting for the photographer-parent\nwould have been wonderful. Maybe they keep the lighting so horrible so that\nthey can sell the shots that wandering staff take, print, and put up on\nracks with a $10\/each price tag?<\/p>\n\n

Anyway, I don't know where the other pair of boys were while this\ncustomer was in, because the buffing went neglected until Anthony noticed\nand stepped up.<\/p>\n\n
