On Saturday Anthony got to play in a park<\/span> with two friends he hadn't\nseen in a while,<\/span> kindergarten classmate Monet<\/a>, and\nGen<\/a> (my\nfriend Zak's<\/a> boy). The park near<\/span> Gen's house in Otsu (just over the mountains from Kyoto),\nojigaoka park<\/i>, is wonderful, both for kids to play and for parents\nto photograph.<\/p>\n\n

The boys gravitated toward destructive play that involved “building” a\n“road” near where some minor construction was going on. This “road\nbuilding” mostly involved throwing rocks....<\/p>\n\n

I was curious what it might be behind the barriers, so stuck my camera up and over...<\/p>\n\n

I've no idea what it might be for, but there it is.<\/p>\n\n

Anyway, as the little river leaves the park, it becomes overgrown,\nmaking for a nice<\/span> little jungle, ripe for exploration (just as Anthony and Gen\ndid more than a year<\/span> ago<\/a>), so Arthur and Monet forged in...<\/p>\n\n

Then it was time for apple juice. Anthony claimed that he wanted juice\n“for everyone”, which I inferred<\/span> as a certain<\/span> willingness to share, but\nwhen we got to the vending machine, it turns out that he wanted me to get\none can per person Doh!. I figured<\/span> that they needed to hydrate, so everyone\ngot their own can..<\/p>\n\n

What I found amazing is that this was the only part of the park they\nplayed in this time. The park offers<\/span> so much more for kids, from a big<\/span> bowl to\nrun around in<\/a> to a huge<\/span> set of interconnected multi-story monkey bars<\/a> to a tall<\/span> two-story slide<\/a>. We've made many visits to this park, and\nI have<\/span> many photos I want<\/span> to share... just no time.<\/p>\n\n
