These were the\nonly &#8220;offering&#8221; things <span class='nobr'>I noticed,<\/span> which makes <span class='nobr'>a stark<\/span> comparison to\n\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2008-05-28\/825\" class='quiet'>the Fushimi\nInari Shrine<\/a>, in Kyoto's southern mountains, where everything not nailed down\nis an offering, and everything nailed down is, too (see\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2008-05-28\/825\" class='quiet'>here<\/a>,\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2008-06-19\/841\" class='quiet'>here<\/a>, and\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2008-05-30\/826\" class='quiet'>here<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n<p>Of course, row after row after row of little statues is photographically\ninviting, but my long-suffering family had already started back down the\nmountain, so <span class='nobr'>I had<\/span> only <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span> moments to try to satisfy my artistic\ncuriosity. When <span class='nobr'>I got<\/span> home, <span class='nobr'>I was surprised<\/span> by two things. First, at how\nperfectly isolated the focus status is in the f\/2.8 shot above.
