It was Fumie's birthday the other day, and Anthony had the idea to bake\ncookies for her. I thought<\/span> it'd be a great<\/span> project for them to do together,\nbut he wanted to do it as a surprise<\/span> for her, so it fell to me. This meant,\nas a start,<\/span> that I had<\/span> to investigate whether we had an oven.<\/p>\n\n

It turns out that our microwave oven doubles as a heat<\/span> convection oven,\nso that was set. Armed with a recipe<\/span> in hand, we went to the store and got\nflour, yeast, sugar, etc., and came home to mix it all up.<\/p>\n\n

He wanted to pair the cookies up with some fresh-squeezed orange juice\n(well, tangerine juice), so while the cookies cooked, he went next door to\nFumie's folks to make it....<\/p>\n\n

You can see in the lower-left of the picture above a pinkish<\/span> box. While\nwe were shopping for ingredients, he was excited to find this set of\nchocolate figurines... a bunny,<\/span> one that says “happy birthday”, etc. To his delight<\/span>, he found that it also included a chocolate<\/span> pen. He wanted<\/span> to\nwrite something on Mommy's cookie, but I suggested<\/span> that he practice first\non his cookie. Of course, he liked the idea. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n
