Yesterday there was news of <a\nhref=\"\/blog\/2009-03-07\/1158\" class='quiet'>my niece\nTiti's birth<\/a>, and today there was an email from Katz Eye Optics that\nthey now have <span class='nobr'>a model<\/span> <a class='quiet'\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.katzeyeoptics.com\/item--Nikon-D700-Focusing-Screen--prod_D700.html\">available\nfor the D700<\/a>. Woohoo! <span class='nobr'>I couldn't<\/span> type fast enough to order one.<\/p>\n\n<p>I've long complained about the stock focus screen on the D700,\nparticularly in conjunction with <a class='quiet'\nhref=\"\/blog\/2008-09-15\/935\">low-light photography<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Since getting <a href=\"\/blog\/2007-08-22\/550\"\nclass='quiet'><span class='nobr'>a Katz<\/span> Eye for my D200<\/a>, I've found it to be\nindispensable. <span class='nobr'>I got so<\/span> used to it that the first time <span class='nobr'>I tried<\/span> my D700, <span class='nobr'>I thought<\/span> the focus was broken because even manually, carefully, <span class='nobr'>I couldn't<\/span>\nfocus sharply. <span class='nobr'>It took a<\/span> few moments for me to realize that the lack of\nsharpness was the stock focusing screen.<\/p>\n\n<p>So I'd been waiting... hoping... for the folks at Katz Eye to solve\nwhatever technical problems stood in the way, and finally today they did.\nWoohoo! <span class='nobr'>I expect<\/span> it in the mail in <span class='nobr'>a few<\/span> weeks...<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I've got a horrible cold at the moment, but my days of misery have been punctuated by news of two glorious events.
