Well, if anyone needed convincing just how much of an idiot I am,<\/span> here\nit is....<\/p>\n\n

I spent half my time last week being sick with a cold,<\/span> and the other\nhalf working on a new<\/span> plugin for Lightroom that I knew<\/span> I'd never use\nmyself, nor would it be of any interest to most people.<\/p>\n\n

This plugin allows you to extract as individual JPG files the internal\npreview images that Lightroom makes for a catalog.<\/span> If you don<\/span>'t have your\noriginal image files handy (because you've deleted them, or you forgot to\nbring the drive that contains them with them) and you need\nsomething<\/i>, this might help you out of a pinch.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

So the real “I'm an idiot” moment was – after I finished<\/span> the\nplugin – finding out about Marc Rochkind's most excellent-looking LRViewer<\/a> tool, which\nlooks just awesome in that it does what my plugin can do and so much more:\nit uses the image cache and the Lightroom database to offer a full<\/span>-function\n(but read-only) image viewer that doesn't require Lightroom itself.<\/p>\n\n

Had I known about LRViewer, I probably<\/span> wouldn't have bothered writing\nthis plugin. But, I did waste<\/span> a week<\/span> on it, so here it\nis<\/a> if you care.<\/p>\n\n
