\nAt the Nanzenji Temple, Kyoto Japan<\/big>\n\n<\/a>\n\nAll these photos are by Katsunori Shimada<\/small>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n\nI've known Katsunori Shimada (\u5cf6\u7530\u52dd\u529f)<\/span> for many years, but didn't know how\ngood a photographer<\/span> he was until recently. Last week, Shimada-san, Nils Ferry<\/a>, my mother-in-law, and I all<\/span> walked to and hiked up Mt. Daimonji\nin eastern Kyoto. It's the mountain<\/span> on which that the huge “\u5927” character\nappears in flames during the\n Daimonji Festival each year in August.\n\n\n<\/p>

Nils<\/a> has\nposted some shots, as will I later.<\/span> In this post<\/span> I'll feature some of the\nphotos that Shimada-san took during that trip. Many would make spectacular\ndesktop backgrounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
