(We found out yesterday that Anthony was\naccepted!)\n\n<\/p> <div class=\"img_right\"><a\nhref=\"http:\/\/map.yahoo.co.jp\/pl?nl=35.0.52.637&amp;el=135.45.51.916&amp;la=1&amp;sc=3&amp;CE.x=313&amp;CE.y=244\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/lake.png\" width=\"298\" height=\"284\"\nalt=\"Map of\nKyuujoike, a lake in the southern part of the old imperial palace grounds,\nKyoto Japan\"\nid=\"ilake\"\ntitle=\"Map of\nKyuujoike, a lake in the southern part of the old imperial palace grounds,\nKyoto Japan\"\/><\/a><\/div> <p>\n\n\nAfter the interview, Anthony and <span class='nobr'>I took<\/span> <span class='nobr'>a little<\/span> bike ride to see\nsome fall foliage. <span class='nobr'>It's pretty<\/span> anemic this year, but we were still able to\nfind some nice areas close by. <span class='nobr'>We first<\/span> went to <span class='nobr'>a secluded<\/span> area in the\nsouth part of the old imperial palace grounds <span class='nobr'>(\u5fa1\u6240)<\/span> where the <a\nhref=\"\/blog\/2005-11-16\/101\">President was<\/a> last week.\nLast Thursday, when riding around with Fumie, we discovered <span class='nobr'>a small<\/span> lake\n(Kyuujou-ike &mdash; <span class='nobr'>\u4e5d\u6761\u6c60)<\/span> which we'd never noticed before despite many trips\nto the area.\n\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nOn the map at right, the lake looks as if it's right next to <span class='nobr'>a major<\/span>\nstreet, and indeed it is, but it's so well hidden by trees that encircle it\nalmost completely that you can see it only from the entrance near the\nnorth side of the bridge which bisects the lake. When you're on the street,\nor on the wide paths inside the park, you have no idea it's there. Thus, it\nwas <span class='nobr'>a wonderful<\/span> discovery.\n\n<\/p><p>\n\nThe flip side of it being so hidden is that when you're there, you can't\ntell that you're in the middle of <span class='nobr'>a big<\/span> city.
