I've posted about Kibune many\ntimes, most recently <span class='nobr'>a week<\/span> ago when <a class='quiet'\nhref=\"\/blog\/2008-11-08\/987\"><span class='nobr'>I visited<\/span> with Thomas<\/a>,\nalthough the area is known more for its summertime <a class='quiet'\nhref=\"\/blog\/2007-06-26\/500\">dining over the river<\/a> and,\ner, <a class='quiet' href=\"\/blog\/2007-06-27\/501\">noodle fishing<\/a>.\nAnyway, despite having gone up that way many times, <span class='nobr'>I'd never<\/span> taken the\ntrain, until today.<\/p>\n\n<p>Fumie's been under the weather for the last week or two, but felt good\nenough today that we all went on <span class='nobr'>a ride<\/span> through Eizan's &#8220;Fall Foliage\nTunnel&#8221;, <span class='nobr'>a section<\/span> of the track through <span class='nobr'>a mountain<\/span> forest of colorful trees\nthat's lit up by rows of floodlights during the evening.<\/p>\n\n<p>Japanese love their lightup events &mdash; <a class='quiet'\nhref=\"\/blog\/2008-11-16\/999\">fall colors<\/a>, <a class='quiet'\nhref=\"\/blog\/2008-04-06\/784\">cherry blossoms<\/a>, and <a class='quiet'\nhref=\"\/blog\/2008-03-21\/771\">no particular reason<\/a>\n&ndash; and <span class='nobr'>I love<\/span> them too, because they're really pretty. The train's\n&#8220;tunnel&#8221; lightup is part of <span class='nobr'>a larger<\/span> &#8220;Kibune Lightup&#8221;, which runs in the\nevenings from the 13th to the 30th this month. Kurama has <span class='nobr'>a big<\/span> shrine and apparently can hold its own fall-color\nwise during the day, but at night it was more or less deserted.
