{"id":10,"date":"2005-04-11T21:26:00","date_gmt":"2005-04-11T12:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2005-04-11\/10"},"modified":"2005-04-11T21:26:00","modified_gmt":"2005-04-11T12:26:00","slug":"10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/regex.info\/blog\/2005-04-11\/10","title":{"rendered":"Mango and Poison Ivy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fumie's dad brought some Mangos from Malaysia today (quite illegally, <span class='nobr'>I might<\/span> add &mdash; bad Daddy, bad!).<\/p>\n\n<p>We were warned not to touch them, as some people apparently have some\nkind of painful skin reaction to mangos (including Fumie's dad, very\napparently). <span class='nobr'>We used Saran<\/span> Wrap to hold it while we peeled it, then ate the\nfruity flesh with <span class='nobr'>a fork.<\/span> <span class='nobr'>It was quite<\/span> tasty... much more musky than the\nnormal store-bought Mango I've had in the US or Japan, perhaps because they\nwere picked ripe, not ripened on <span class='nobr'>a boat<\/span> during shipping.<\/p>\n\n<p>I thought the warnings about skin reactions seemed <span class='nobr'>a little<\/span> farfetched,\nbut it didn't take much <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search?p=mango+allergic++reaction&amp;ei=UTF-8&amp;fr=slv5-&amp;fl=0&amp;x=wrt\">searching<\/a>\nto find out that Mango is in the same family as Poison Ivy (along with,\noddly enough, the cashew tree). <span class='nobr'>It can be<\/span> <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.sciencenews.org\/pages\/sn_arc98\/8_8_98\/food.htm\">quite\npainful<\/a>, if you're allergic.<\/p>\n\n<p>There's a nice page on it in the <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mango\">wikipedia<\/a>.
