That's\nme <a href='\/blog\/2007-04-09\/417' class='quiet'>at right<\/a>, in the yellow shirt holding the dish of bubble\nstuff.<\/p>\n\n<p>My plugins, for Adobe Lightroom Classic (plugins are not supported by Lightroom CC), are &#8220;donationware&#8221;. <span\nclass='nobr'>I develop,<\/span> release, and maintain them for free, and you can use them for free forever, but <span\nclass='nobr'>I hope<\/span> you find them worthy of <span class='nobr'>a gift<\/span> of thanks or encouragement. They are fully\nfunctional for <span class='nobr'>a long<\/span> initial trial period, after which functionality is reduced until they are\nregistered. You don't need to register, but if you want to, it generally costs one cent (<span class='nobr'>a PayPal<\/span>\nfee).<\/p>\n\n<p>If you'd care to read about why <span class='nobr'>I have<\/span> chosen\nthis path, see my blog posts\n<span class='QO'>&#8220;<\/span><a href='\/blog\/2010-02-10\/1452'>My Long Path To Lightroom Plugin Development<\/a><span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span>,\n &#8220;<a class='pt'\nhref='\/blog\/2009-02-03\/1134'>What To Do When <span\nclass='nobr'>a Hobby<\/span> Becomes Work?<\/a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a\nclass='pt' href='\/blog\/2009-02-15\/1148'>Lightroom Plugin\nDevelopment: Now With Added Encouragement<\/a>&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<p>After the initial trial period ends, <span class='nobr'>I don't<\/span>\nwant to shut them down completely and leave someone in the lurch, but <span\nclass='nobr'>I do<\/span> want to encourage registration (and potential\ngifts), so they become somewhat restricted until registered, usually to\nprocessing no more than 10 images at <span class='nobr'>a time.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p>If you don't mind the restriction, there's no need to register.<\/p>\n\n<p id='reg' class='h'>How it Works<\/p>\n\n<p>In short: make a payment of any amount to me via PayPal, and the\nresulting PayPal transaction ID is your plugin registration code, good\nuntil your Lightroom serial number changes.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you choose to make a payment of $0.01 (or whatever minimum PayPal\nallows for your currency), PayPal takes that as <span class='nobr'>a\nfee<\/span> and <span class='nobr'>I receive<\/span> nothing, and that's\nperfectly fine. <span class='nobr'>If you choose<\/span> to make <span\nclass='nobr'>a larger<\/span> payment, anything left after PayPal takes its\nfees remains as <span class='nobr'>a gift<\/span> to me for which I (and\nmore importantly, my wife) am most appreciative.<\/p>\n\n<p>You do not need a PayPal account: if you don't have one, you can pay\nthrough PayPal using <span class='nobr'>a credit<\/span> card.<\/p>\n\n<p>To generate <span class='nobr'>a registration<\/span> code,\nuwe one of the buttons below to make <span class='nobr'>a payment<\/span> through\nPayPal.<\/p>\n\n<p id='minimum' style='font-size:85%; color:#888; border: dotted 1px #888; padding: 5px; width:80%; margin-left:3em'>\n<span style='color:red'>Note<\/span> &mdash;\nI've gotten scattered reports that PayPal inexplicably forces <span class='nobr'>a minimum<\/span> of $1.00 for some folks, when starting <span class='nobr'>a\ntransaction<\/span> with the button below. (or, for some users, the &#8220;Receipt\nNumber&#8221;) immediately on the confirmation page, the confirmation\nemail, or your PayPal history screen...<\/p>\n\n<div class='ic'>\n<a name='example'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/lr\/PayPalReceipt.png\" width=\"586\" height=\"221\"\nclass=\"raw\"\nid=\"iPayPalReceipt\"\/><\/a>\n<\/div>\n\n<p id='email'><span style='color:red'>Warning:<\/span> PayPal sometimes shows <i>on the confirmation web page<\/i> <span class='nobr'>a\n17<\/span>-digit number instead of <span class='nobr'>a proper<\/span> Transaction ID (<span class='nobr'>a 17<\/span>-character code\nwith <span class='nobr'>a mix<\/span> of numbers and letters) or <span class='nobr'>a Receipt<\/span> Number (16 digits in a <small\nclass='nobr'><span class='QO'>&#8220;<\/span>####-####-####-####<span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span><\/small> pattern). <span\nclass='nobr'>If you get<\/span> that, see the confirmation <i>email<\/i> from PayPal for the proper code.<\/p>\n\n<p id='enter'>Visit the plugin in Lightroom's Plugin Manager, and\nin the upper-right section you should find a &#8220;Register Here&#8221;\nbutton, as illustrated here:<\/p>\n\n<div class='ic'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/i\/lr\/PluginRegisterHere.png\" width=\"575\" height=\"347\"\nclass=\"raw\"\nid=\"iPluginRegisterHere\"\/><\/div>\n\n<p>That'll bring up a dialog in which you can paste your registration code.\n(It is case sensitive, so it's best to copy-and-paste so that there are no\ntypos.)<\/p>\n\n\n<p style='margin-top:50px' class='h' id='details'>The Fine Print<\/p>\n\n<p>I'm trying to be really laid back and reasonable... no one wants to give\n<span class='nobr'>a gift<\/span> to <span class='nobr'>a jerk.<\/span>.. but\nI've got to set some limits, so here they are...<\/p>\n\n\n<p>I've developed plugins for years (<a\nhref='\/blog\/2010-02-10\/1452'>here's why<\/a>), pushing out\n<a href='\/blog\/2013-09-23\/2317'>thousands of updates<\/a>, and it is my intention to continue to push out new\nfeatures and bug fixes from time to time. <span class='nobr'>But I must<\/span> be clear that while\nit's my <i>intention<\/i>, it is not a <i>guarantee<\/i>. <span class='nobr'>I am not<\/span> <span class='nobr'>a business<\/span>\nand <span class='nobr'>I don't<\/span> want to be <span class='nobr'>a business<\/span> &mdash; this is just <span class='nobr'>a hobby,<\/span> after all\n&mdash; and you are not purchasing anything when you register the plugin.\nOfficially, there are no guarantees other than the registration code will\nwork to remove the trial-period-ended limitation of the copy of the plugin\nyou have, for the version of Lightroom you have.<\/p>\n\n<p>Your registration ties one plugin to one\nLightroom serial number, and you can use the same registration code (PayPal\ntransaction ID) to register that plugin with that same Lightroom serial\nnumber on multiple machines, such as if you use Lightroom on the two\nmachines Adobe's license allows, or you later have to do <span class='nobr'>a full<\/span> system\nreinstall.<\/p>\n\n<p>If you don't have a PayPal account and don't have <span class='nobr'>a credit<\/span> card, you\nwon't be able to register plugins in the normal way. Send me <span class='nobr'>a note<\/span> and\nI'll take care of you. <span class='nobr'>I will request<\/span> (but not require) that you send me\nsome good karma by doing something nice for someone locally.<\/p>\n\n<p>Similarly, if you administer Lightroom on <span class='nobr'>a bunch<\/span> of computers (e.g. at <span class='nobr'>a school<\/span> or large\nbusiness) and you don't have <span class='nobr'>a single<\/span> bulk-install serial number from Adobe, send me <span class='nobr'>a note<\/span> and I'll\nget you <span class='nobr'>a less<\/span> restricted registration code so that you don't have to hassle with PayPal <span class='nobr'>a zillion<\/span>\ntimes.<\/p>\n\n<p>Due to the nature of the system I've built, you cannot register <span class='nobr'>a plugin<\/span> during Lightroom's &#8220;free\ntrial&#8221; phase, because it doesn't yet have <span class='nobr'>a serial<\/span> number. Also, <span class='nobr'>I do not<\/span> permit the use of my\nplugins on pirated copies of Lightroom.<\/p>\n\n<p class='h' id='major-upgrade'>Major Lightroom Upgrades, or Moving to the Creative Cloud<\/p>\n\n<p>Registrations are tied to the Lightroom serial number. Because the Lightroom serial number changes at <span class='nobr'>a\nmajor<\/span> upgrade (e.g. Lr7.x to Lr8.x), or if you move from standalone Lightroom to the Creative-Cloud Lightroom or back,\nplugins become deregistered.<\/p>\n\n<p>As always, you can generate a new registration code (for one cent\n&mdash; 1\/100<sup>th<\/sup> of <span class='nobr'>a dollar<\/span> &mdash; if you wish). Sorry for the\nhassles.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dot releases (e.g. Lr6.0 &rarr; Lr6.1) do not affect registrations.<\/p>\n\n<p class='h'>Problems?<\/p>\n\n<p><b>If You Need to Re-Register but Have Forgotten Your Registration Code, or It Doesn't Seem To Work...<\/b><\/p>\n\n<p>If you need to reregister and have forgotten your code, it might be\neasiest\/fastest just to create <span class='nobr'>a new<\/span> code with a 1-cent transaction.<\/p>\n\n<p>On non-CC versions of Lightroom, the plugin includes a &#8220;Forgot\nYour Code?&#8221; button on the plugin-registration dialog, which can\nretrieve the your code if you had previously entered it for that plugin on\nthat install of Lightroom.<\/p>\n\n<p>You can also always check your PayPal history screen.<\/p>\n\n<p>If a registration code is rejected as <span class='QO'>&#8220;<\/span>used on another install<span class='QC'>&#8221;<\/span>, it's\nbecause your Lightroom serial number has changed (because, for example, you\nperformed <span class='nobr'>a major<\/span> upgrade, such as from Lr5 to\nLr6, or you switch to or from the Creative Cloud).
