I spent most of the day at the Ryouanji Temple (龍安寺) in northwest Kyoto, which I often visit in the fall for its spectacular autumn scenery. I think today was my first visit during cherry-blossom season.

I was tickled to discover that the “weeping cherry” (シダレ桜) at the west end of the property were spectacular, both pink and white. Best earlier in the day... by noon the light was too harsh.

I haven't looked at the photos yet, but while flying through the grid of 881 shots to mark color-checker shots as part of my import routine, I thought this photo was promising enough to go ahead and post today.

As always I really love your photos.
It’s great that you write about your camera’s settings as well. I’m trying to learn from it! ^^
I was in Otsu yesterday, cherry blossoms have slowly started to fall down. Later I was in Nagaokakyo and it seems that in Kyoto they’re almost done. After today’s rainstorm, I’m sure it’s going to be over for this year! :/

Hi Jeff, I live in Scarborough, Maine, but I have spent many months in Japan. It is such a beautiful and wonderful country with wonderful people. I envy you the opportunities that you have.

Keep up the plugin work and please keep posting the photos. It is a great reminder of my many pleasurable visits.

BTW – on one of my trips, I stayed in J-Village in Fukushima and could see Fukushima 1 and 2 from my room. My understanding is that the whole area that I visited is now in a quarantine zone. It is such a shame. It is a beautiful part of an amazing country.

Cheers,

Tom

Please mention what part of the world you're writing from, if you don't mind. It's always interesting to see where people are visiting from.

IMPORTANT:I'm mostly retired, so I don't check comments often anymore, sorry.
