I mentioned the other day in “Happy Ordination Anniversary (54!) to Kyoto Institution Fr. Graham McDonnell” that I'd come across a weird flower, and was quickly informed (both here and on Google Plus; not a word from Facebook, where my blog-post notices never elicit a comment) that it was the flower from a passion-fruit vine.

The shape of the flower apparently lends the “Passion” to its English name, summoning images of the Passion of Christ.

The Japanese name seems to come from the same construction, though along a different path: tokeisou (時計草) means “Watch Plant”

Would you consider the Voigtländer to be a “walk around” or is it just the lens you end up walking around with reasonably often?

I tend to find that while zoom’s can’t be beaten for events, a sort of specialist lens (a macro, a fast prime, something like that) can give more interesting pictures when you’re just walking around with a camera looking for interesting things. Is it the same for you?

For me it’s a great walk-around lens, but I see different things when I have it than if I had something more wide. Especially in the city, though, a tight macro can let you cut out a lot of clutter. But I don’t think most people would consider it a walk-around lens, which something like an 18-200 zoom usually is suggested. I went hiking in the mountains today with just it and a 50/1.4, and used both liberally, and often wished I had brought the 24/1.4 as well. But the Voigtländer is my favorite lens by far. —Jeffrey

Great pictures !
Great lense !
… what I’m most impress : finding such beauties in a city center ! (I don’t think I’d find some like this in Paris)

Those pictures are beautiful as always! Have you looked into your privacy setting in Facebook… I was surprise that no one had comment on our return home after 5 months of big trouble because of mold, to figure out that only myself could view my posts!!! After that I did get comments 🙂 But maybe you did look into this allready! Have a wonderful day. It’s always a delight to read and look at your pictures 🙂
