Noticed the roof on Taketomi island with the 2 guardian dog statues. Those have to be Shiba Inu - except for the actual faces, that is. The basic build and the ears and tail are right. And if you've ever been face to face with one of them in "fierce" mode, the faces aren't that far off either... Good catch! Was catching up on your photos – great work, by the way!
