I still have many pictures I want to share from our trip to the onsen at Kinosaki a couple of months ago. These pictures are from the evening (it was a one-night stay) after dressing in yukata to head out to an onsen for our evening bath.

Its a weird thing to be homesick for a place that is not really your ‘home’ land. Your photos remind me of my family’s visits to Yumura Onsen (Google Maps: [35.554740, 134.487966] & [35.554902, 134.491367]).

However only people in Japan and Iceland (maybe Colorado?) can understand the incredible & humble richness of the Onsen. When I see your photos it reminds of that sulfur-y onsen smell, my first trip to Japan to meet my in-laws and cooking raw eggs/corn in a boiling stream.

When I got back from that 1st trip to Japan people here asked, “How did it go, with your wife’s father?” I told them, “Well, we took a bath together naked, in scalding hot volcano water. After you do that, there really is nothing to be nervous about.” -All the best.

Ah, one the things I do miss about Japan are Onsen!

Fantastic shots! I like the shots of your son in the the most. They look like photography studio shots. With a little more practice I hope to take shots like these.

Again, great work.

Great pictures! Unfortunately I haven’t been to Japan (yet). But your shots do increase my curiosity. Thanks for sharing. Btw, very nice Ninja action! 😉
