Hi,

I have a Girl Scout troop that will be representing Amami Island in our World Friendship Fair in Kansas. I am at a loss trying to find out about these islands. I have seen your wonderful pictures and was wondering if you can maybe help us on our adventure. We need to represent our country with information for the public to view. We need a back drop, table covering, maybe a food we can sale (hopefully make at home), and we've decided on making a passport stamp with Amami Island in the native written language. Do you have any suggestions for us? Also do you have any idea where we can get a map of the island? (A big map) If you can help that would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Catherine

The New Year's car decoration is like putting a wreath on your car in America-- there is no special meaning but it is arguably linked to Shinto practice.
