Snow reminds me of the game of enjoying palm trees covered in snow.

If I haven’t made a bad mistake, a palm worth visiting is on Gojo Dori, north side, just east of what I think is the Aeon Mall (I’ve got to make some progress on learning to read Japanese!). Where Google Maps shows Saiinminamikotobukicho, a vegetable garden is at the corner. At the corner of a blue roof, you can see the big crown of leaves.

I’m nearly certain it’s a species of Sabal (fan-leafed palms from the Caribbean and Mexico). It might be Sabal uresana, a big Mexican species or possibly Sabal causiarum from the Caribbean.

I’ve seen nothing else like it.

Yes, very easy for Japan folks or in my case, ex-Japan folks. Its snow covereing the wooden ladles at the hand-mouth washing station , Shito Shrine, perhaps the Heian Jingu? (It looks a bit too open for what I remember of Yasaka Jingu.)

Too easy! …at least for those living in Japan, so I’ll leave the others to guess. I’ll venture to say it was taken at Yasaka Shrine as I shot them myself recently and was a little dismayed by the newness of the wood.
