Dear Jeffrey,
superb yes, the new Lightroom version DOES export hierarchical keywords :)
That rocks.
Best regards, Markus

Hello Jeffrey! First off, thank you so very very much for creating these plugins, they are so very helpful! I would love to install the piglets too, but after installing them into the plugin folder, when trying call up the piglet manager, I get this message: No piglets found in this plugins folder. But they're in there, for sure. I copied them into the /modules folder into the plugin folder, without the piglet folder. What am I doing wrong?

Hey Jeffrey - just a quick question if I may after being advised to visit and post here from a user on the Lightroom forums.

I use your excellent Zenfolio plug-in for Lightroom, but am considering moving over to Photium as my web gallery as they allow people to sell images in GBP, whereas Zenfolio only permit USD pricing - no good for me eh! (no offence to my US friends of course)

So, just wondering if you have any plans to write a Lightroom plug-in for uploading images directly to Photium...?

Any news / opinion / thought ...?

Ta
John

I've never heard of them, but that doesn't mean too much. Once LR 2.0 comes out I'll be adding new plugins, so if the Photium people want to contact me then about creating an export plugin for their service, we'll see how it goes.... —Jeffrey

Just to let you know:
Unfortunately the todays update to 1.4.1 has not fixed the issue :(
Best, M

1.4.1 is not intended to fix any and all bugs and deficiencies that people may feel that Lightroom has; it's intended to fix the problems introduced when 1.4.0 was released, which itself was intended to be very limited in addressing a few specific bugs and adding support for some new cameras. There are still bugs and areas where I and everyone wishes that Lightroom performed differently (the "FormatW" upload error being near the top of the list for many), but those have not been addressed. —Jeffrey

Ahhh, sorry Jeffrey, I thought the wrong call was made from your plugin, but I assume what is correct is that actual API has a bug. Then obviously, only an update of Lightroom would help ;)

Thanks for that, best regards!

Hi Jeffrey

Why do you wanna wait many MONTHs to make this simple bugfix change happen ?

Uh, because (as I said) the fix won't be possible until Lightroom 2.0 comes out, which I assume is a timespan measured in months. —Jeffrey

These are hundreds/thousands of pics with missing keyword hierarchies :(

Do you have the source code available somewhere on google code or sourceforge ?
Is it an OpenSource project ? If not, it would be great if you move towards that: collaborative efforts are great if there are people eager to improve things.

Hi Jeffrey

Using the standard export from Lightroom optionally writes out the hierarchy (with the option "write Keywords as Lightroom Hierarchy" enabled).

You have the same option available in your plugin. However, enabling and disabling this option does not change anything. It always writes out "just" the keywords without the hierarchy.

I guess it is a rather simple bug and a wrong call to the API, rather than a not implemented feature, since Lightroom already offers this feature. It would be great if you can roll out a bug fix release, given it is just a wrong call of the API ;)

Many thanks,
Markus

I figured using this option only exports the parents of a keyword when the keyword is ambiguous, e.g.
"flower" under "plants" AND under say "gifts". In this case the export would be "flower > gifts" for example.

Indeed, it's just a wrong call to the API, but unfortunately, the correct call won't be available until Lightroom 2.0 comes out, so now there's an actual basis for my initial plan to wait until then :-) —Jeffrey

Great work this plugin ! I love it and saves a lot of trouble ...

I have one question though:
I work a lot with keywords. I would love an option that enables the output of the whole keyword hierarchy (e.g. if a image is tagged with "flower", I also want to have the parent "plant" exported), including synonyms. The whole point of keyword hierarchies is, that one very specific term captures all the more generic parents. However, one might not search (e.g. on Zenfolio) for this specific term rather for one of the more general terms.

What do you think ? Any chance this can be implemented ?
Best regards and again, many thanks for your plugin!
Markus

I'm not a big user of keywords, so these kinds of suggestions are helpful (since I'd never pay attention to the subject on my own). But isn't this already what the plugins do? I'm working on new plugins for 2.0, so if it's not already doing that, I can address it then.... —Jeffrey

Hi, I am wondering if there is a bug in the plugin or if I am doing something wrong. I made changes to the white balance of an image. When I exported it the image on Picasa doesn't have the adjustment. Any thoughts?

Two ideas... one is that you exported "Original" rather than "JPG".

The other is that it does have the adjustment, but that you just can't tell because of color-management issues (e.g. because you're using IE or Fireforx or another non-color-managed browser). Try viewing in Safari to see whether it looks better there. —Jeffrey
