		<description>Jeff, actually that IS  moss in the photo.  It&#039;s &quot;Polytrichum&quot; and we have the same thing growing  around here, especially in the woods and near the lake.  Chickadees prefer it to build their neat little nests.  You can see great vistas of it at the Giouji Temple there in Kyoto. I have a very nice shot of the temple grounds in a wonderful book by George Schenk (Timber Press) on &lt;a href=&#039;http://www.amazon.com/Moss-Gardening-Including-Liverworts-Miniatures/dp/0881923702&#039; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;Moss Gardening&lt;/a&gt;  There is indeed something calming about moss carpets.
