Japanese Lawn Mower

I thought I'd share this picture that I ran across today (that I shot last fall) of a gardener mowing the lawn.

There is a funny German chanson from 1926 by the famous (at least in Germany) writer Kurt Tucholsky with the title: “In Japan all is so small”. The refrain goes like: “In Europe all is so big, so big – And in Japan all is so small.”

Pyramidal!

Abendland – Morgenland – Mund an Mund –
Welch ein natürlicher Völkerschaftsbund!

Tauber, der girrt,
Schwalbe, die flirrt.

Und eine Geisha streichelt das Moos,
in den Augen ein Flämmchen, ein Schein …

In Europa ist alles so groß, so groß –
Und in Japan ist alles so klein.
